UPDATE: NYC Restaurant Week Extended Through February

New York City’s winter restaurant week will include a takeout effort for the first time.

Though the summer iteration never took place, New York City’s Restaurant Week is returning at the end of the month with an all-new, much needed, takeout component.

UPDATE:

New York City Restaurant Week To Go has been extended through Feb. 28, according to NYC & Company, the city's tourism office and host of Restaurant Week.

The decision to extend this takeout- and delivery-focused version of the popular semiannual event was made after a record-shattering 600 restaurants signed up to partake in the program. Restaurants from across all five boroughs are offering an entrée with at least one side dish for lunch or dinner at $20.01 per meal.

As always, tax, delivery fees, and gratuity are not included in the meal price. And since the event is sponsored by Mastercard, cardholders get an extra incentive in that the company will dole out $10 rebates for all orders.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the summer version of restaurant week to be canceled, the first time in 29 years the initiative didn’t take place in the city.

NYC & Company President Fred Dixon said in a statement that hungry New Yorkers and visitors to the city need a promotion like this now more than ever. Not only that, the restaurants and eateries that populate the city need the revenue that’s typically generated by Restaurant Week.

“Even though we are still in the middle of this pandemic, it has never been more important to support the extraordinary restaurant industry that has long made New York City a dining capital and sustained the careers of countless families," he said. "We invite New Yorkers to go ‘All In’ by ordering in or taking out during NYC Restaurant Week To Go."
