Indoor Dining On The Rise

Written by The Sam Tell Companies | Mar 11, 2021 3:51:07 PM

We’re so close to being 100 percent back to normal, we can taste it!

Restaurants statewide were served some good news recently when Governor Andrew Cuomo announced dining establishments outside of the five boroughs can begin to expand their indoor capacity to 75 percent starting on March 19.

In NYC, it was revealed that restaurants can increase indoor dining capacity to 50 percent on March 19, with New Jersey restaurants also increasing to half capacity the same day.

Regardless of where they’re located, any restaurant increasing capacity must maintain all pandemic-related safety measures.

Of course, the increase in capacity depends greatly on the level of COVID-19 cases continuing to decrease or at least remain the same. New York State legislators are currently reviewing the governor’s decision and can choose to block the rise in capacity if they disagree with the assessment.

But we have a feeling local leaders will gleefully accept the 75 percent increase, as local businesses continue to push for all restrictive mandates to be lifted. The new measure comes after Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut announced that restaurants in his state can return to full capacity on March 19.

All in all, increases in capacity for New York restaurants offers a glimmer of hope that full capacity is on its way—for all restaurants, including those in NYC.
