The Power of Hobart Continuous-Feed Processors

Written by The Sam Tell Companies | Dec 5, 2022 3:00:00 PM

Joshua Erdheim, equipment expert at PBAC sits down with Sam Tell for a discussion about food processors. He discusses which food processors make sense for foodservice operators based on food type and number of meals served.

Sam Tell: What are the important considerations when purchasing a continuous-feed food processor?

Joshua Erdheim: How many pounds per minute are you aiming for?  Pounds per minute depends on the number of meals you are serving per day. For example, if you are serving around 400 meals, you would want a continuous-feed processor operating at around 11 pounds per minute, so the FP100 is probably what you're looking for. On the other hand, if you are producing 3,000 meals per day, you would want a maximum heavy duty processor like the FP400.

ST: What are your customization options with Hobart continuous-feed food processors?

JE: What are you slicing, dicing, shredding, or grating? What are the diameters and sizes of these products? Whatever you want to process, Hobart has an abundance of cutting tools for its continuous-feed food processors. There are two standard accessory plate packs that can accommodate all your needs, but you can find all of their accessory options here.

ST: What are your favorite continuous-feed processor features?

JE: Hobart's hoppers are extremely functional. The Manual Push Feeder allows products of different sizes to be loaded into the manual feed hopper’s stacking cylinder. The tube feeder is best for loading long, narrow products vertically and cutting in a specific direction. And the Bulk Feed Hopper is fantastic for round products like potatoes, onions and tomatoes.

ST: What distinguishes Hobart from the rest?

JE: Hobart food processors have impressive safety features. The double interlock switch prevents machine from running when  is open or if the feed cylinder is removed.

ST: What is the warranty?

JE: Hobart warrants its processors one year from the installation dates for defective parts.
